The Gobble Wobble 5K Fitness
Walk/Run is a student driven event
sponsored by the HPLS Sport &
Exercise Sciences Department. All
proceeds from this event are donat-
ed to FLIPANY (Florida Introduces
Physical Activity and Nutrition to
Youth) a local non-for-profit orga-
nization, which promotes proper
nutrition and physical activity for
youth.
This year’s event was a great
success as participants were able to
raise nearly $1500 for the FLIPANY
organization, surpassing the event
highest one year contribution total.
Nearly 80 participants ran, walked,
or biked the event, which also marks
the end of founders week.
Champions were crowned in each competi-
tive division.
In the men’s category, Tyler Bielec won with a
time of :20.42 Akemi Maehama was the wom-
en’s division champion with a time of :23.20.
In the Under- 17 category, Alejandro Veguilla
finished first with a time of :23.11.
Some of the prizes for the top finishers included tro-
phies, free entry to the superhero scramble race, a Road ID
gift certificate, and free fitness classes. A 50/50 Raffle was
conducted in addition to other giveaways like Road ID gift
certificates and free fitness classes.
